FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions and our answers.

Should you need anymore information please don't hesitate to email us.

What size is each wall panel?

Each decorative panel and case door is 19.75” x 19.75”.

Decorative panels are 1.125” deep, including their backplate.

Cases are 6.75” deep.

Do panels and cases work interchangeably?

Yes! All our panels and cases are designed to use the same modular backplate technology so it's easy to combine any number of our products.

How do the wall panels stay in place?

Each decorative panel is paired with our proprietary mounting backplate.  Backplates are attached to drywall using the included self-drilling wall anchor.  The decorative panel connects to the backplate using magnets.

Case goods such as the bar use a similar backplate design integrated into the cabinet and are attached to wall using two anchors.

Can the panels be mounted on any wall surface?

We provide the necessary anchors for walls made of wallboard (also called drywall or sheetrock).

If you intend to hang your panels or case goods on another type of surface (brick, plaster-and-lath, etc) we recommend purchasing the appropriate anchors at your local hardware store.

VIEW INSTALLATION GUIDES

Can your products be installed outdoors or in a bathroom?

Our products are designed for climate controlled interior use.  Exposure to the elements, moisture or extreme humidity may compromise the plywood lamination.  Please read our warranty before installing outside or in a restroom.

Is it easy to remove and relocate my wall panels?

Yes!  Once the backplate has been unscrewed from the anchor, the anchor can then be gently unscrewed from the wall.  The hole in drywall left by the anchor can be easily filled with spackle or a similar patching product.

What are your products made of?

Our panels and case goods are primarily made from sustainably sourced Baltic Birch plywood.  Baltic birch is a plywood product native to the northeastern region of Europe around the Baltic Sea.

Some parts must be sourced, but when possible we source locally in an effort to support the businesses in our community.

What finishes do you apply to your products?

Our wood products are colored and sealed using shellac.  Shellac is considered a renewable resource because it is a natural resin secreted by the female lac bug on trees in the forests of India and Thailand.  The lac resin is processed as flakes and dissolved in ethanol, an alcohol solvent made from corn, to make liquid shellac.

Where are your products made?

All the products in the KARVD collection are made-to-order in Southern Idaho.

How do I care for my panels?

Use a dry soft cloth or an old t-shirt to dust off your wooden panels.  Should your panels or cases get wet wipe them dry immediately to avoid any discoloration.

Do you offer samples?

Sometimes no substitute for touching and feeling materials yourself.  Sample kits can be purchased here.
